Over the past few years, it has become clear that the eastern subpolar gyre is responsible for most of the AMOC variability captured in the OSNAP mooring line. To try to get to the bottom of this variability, we are looking in detail at the transports reported by moorings across the Rockall Trough. Periods of high and low transport appear to be linked to eastern Atlantic weather modes, but may also be linked to the heat and salt being transported through the Rockall Trough.
